March 10, 2009--The San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau (ConVis) was recently named Convention Bureau of the Year --for the third consecutive year--by ConferenceDirect, a Los-Angeles based international meeting resources company.
The prestigious award is given annually to the convention & visitors bureau that consistently meets the needs of ConferenceDirect’s sales associates and their clients. ConferenceDirect services more than 900 corporations and associations world-wide, specializing in site selection/contract negotiation, conference management, housing and registration. The company relies heavily on the expertise and knowledge convention bureaus supply on their particular destinations.
According to Brian Richey, Executive Vice President and Chief Talent Officer of Conference Direct, “The staff at the San Diego bureau consistently goes above and beyond to provide exceptional service to our associates and clients. San Diego is a first-class meetings destination. It is this extra service from a team of experts that know everything there is to know about meetings there, that make the San Diego CVB such a winner. They truly have partnered with our company and definitely make it easy for us to better sell San Diego as a destination for our clients.”
ConVis President & CEO David Peckinpaugh points out that winning national awards for exceptional service plays an important role in solidifying San Diego’s reputation as a preferred convention and meetings destination. “This news could not have come at a better time. Destination sales and marketing is a highly competitive business. Being known as the cream of the crop among the nation’s convention and visitors bureaus is an incredible honor for the ConVis team. Our winning this award for three years in a row is unprecedented. But more importantly, our reputation for exceptional service will significantly influence meeting planners to select San Diego for future events, a critical factor in ensuring the economic health of our region’s visitor industry in the months ahead," Peckinpaugh added.
The award was presented to the bureau at the ConferenceDirect Annual PartnerMeeting held recently in San Diego.
