Loews Coronado Bay Resort Launches Teen Program
Traveling with teens can be a challenging proposition, as many parents know – if a teenager isn’t happy on vacation, then no one’s happy. To address the special needs of family travelers, Loews Coronado Bay Resort announces the launch of a variety of teen services.
Most recently, the resort introduced the “My Super Suite Vacation” Package. The two-night stay offers a perfect blend of San Diego’s sun and surf and takes full advantage of the resort’s direct access to the Silver Strand State Beach. At the heart of the package are private surfing lessons on surfboards that have been custom designed for each teen to take home. Prior to arriving, teens select their surf board size and color (choices include hot pink, blue, black, white and lime green) and teens can even add personal photos or other graphics to the back of their board.
After hitting the waves, the VIP service continues with two spa treatments in the resort’s PBteen Spa Room and access to the resort’s PBteen Lounge (both rooms were designed just for Loews by Pottery Barn’s PBteen). Premier accommodations include an executive suite for the family while independent teens enjoy a connecting double guestroom of their own.
The “My Super Suite Vacation” Package is based on availability and starts at $2,000 (package savings total more than 25 percent). A two-week turnaround time is needed to personalize the surfboards by INT Softboard, a leading surfboard company based in North County San Diego. Package reservations can be made by calling 619-424-4000, 800-23-LOEWS or by visiting www.loewshotels.com. One-hour surfing lessons and a customized surfboard can also be added to any guest stay “à la carte” for $550.
“As a mother of two teenagers, I know how difficult it is to keep teens entertained on vacation,” said Kathleen Cochran, general manager of Loews Coronado Bay Resort & Spa. “Our program is designed to offer teens a little independence from younger brothers and sisters; but more importantly, it offers parents a seamless method for boredom-free and happy family travel.”
In addition to the package, teens can take advantage of a variety of additional services. Loews Coronado Bay Resort recently partnered with Pottery Barn’s PBteen to create a stylish teen lounge and spa room. The PBteen Lounge is outfitted with an ultra-cozy lounger, cool media tower, Nintendo Wii, life-size surfer wall mural and two iChairs – rockin’ loungers that easily connect to any iPod or MP3 player. The beach-themed environment is the ideal place for teens to hang out, play pool, watch movies on the LCD flat-screen television, or simply relax with their favorite magazine.
In December 2008, the PBteen Lounge will bring guitarists, drummers and fearless frontmen together to rock out with Guitar Hero World Tour featuring two newly-redesigned guitar controllers, drum kit controller and two microphones. The latest installment in the number one best-selling video game franchise of 2007, Guitar Hero World Tour transforms music gaming by expanding Guitar Hero’s signature guitar gameplay into a cooperative band experience – all in an effort to bring Loews Coronado Bay Resort’s teen guests together. Teen travelers will party like a rock star with weekly jam sessions and summer concerts on the resort’s bayside terrace.
To impress the savviest teen spa-goer, the designers at PBteen transformed one of Sea Spa’s treatment rooms into a teen oasis. Unlike most spa rooms that are typically very plain, the PBteen Spa Room complements the resort’s seaside setting with colorful, hibiscus-flower sheets, Capiz shell chandelier, coastal bookcase and other ocean accents. Teens can pamper themselves with a variety of services, including acne facials, sports massages, “skincare 101” lessons and organic spray-tanning.
Recently named one of the “10 Best Family-Friendly Resorts in the U.S.” by Parents magazine, jet-set teens can enjoy a variety of additional services, including Wii teen challenges, Guitar Hero jam sessions, summer surf camps, Segway tours, late-night grunion runs and a variety of action sports. A destination within a destination, the resort is equipped with three swimming pools, tennis and basketball courts and a private 80-slip marina. Additional activities include dive-in movies, pizza-making classes and bayside marshmallow roasts.
Summer room rates start at $309. For reservations or more information, please call 619-424-4000, 800-23-LOEWS or visit www.loewshotels.com.
