Loews Coronado Bay Resort has recently expanded its 3,800-square-foot organic garden to include more than 65 herbs and vegetables, including lavender, artichokes, strawberries, lemon verbena, broccoli, thyme and basil. In addition to utilizing the garden for dishes, resort Chefs provide 45-minute tours where guests (and locals) learn about cultivating and sustaining herbs and participate in a cooking demonstration of an herb-infused recipe and cocktail. Examples include Mint Pesto and Mint & Pineapple Caipirinhas.
The “A Walk in the Herb Garden” tours take place every Friday at 3 p.m. $20 per person. Reservations are required by noon the day of by calling 619-424-4000 ext. 6300.
