4th Annual Whale Festival Jan.21 on Broadway Pier
By Rebecca Milkey
Whale Days takes place on San Diego’s beautiful Big Bay along a famous mile of waterfront called the Embarcadero. Each year between late December and early April Gray Whales migrate along the San Diego coast. Throughout January 2012, waterfront businesses are uniting for the 4th consecutive year to support whale watching by offering a month of money saving deals to attract whale & dolphin fans.
The Embarcadero merchants have joined forces to offer “January Whale Days on the Embarcadero “ and will be offering a day-long Whale Festival at the Foot of Broadway & Harbor Drive on January 21th 2012, from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. Sidewalks will be set up with vendors and exhibitors, featuring music, face painting and family fun, along with deals on Whale Watching.
Whale of a Deal Days offers include “Kids cruise free” all month on Whale Watching Cruises offered by the companies listed, located in the heart of the Embarcadero at the corner of West Broadway and N. Harbor Drive. Wonderful seafood restaurants on the Embarcadero like Anthony's Fish Grotto, and restaurants in nearby Seaport Village, will be offering specials for families to dine for lunch or dinner during January Whale Days. The USS Midway and Maritime Museum of San Diego will offer reduced admissions.
Big Bay Whale Days is sponsored by the Port of San Diego. Unbelievably low "Whale of a Deal" offers will be available on www.whaledays.com. Whale Watching season begins in San Diego in mid-December and lasts through mid- April.
Whale watching cruises are available on Hornblower Cruises & Events, 619-686-8715.
