Extreme Aeronautical Fun To Astonish and Delight Even the “Been There, Done That” Crowd

SAN DIEGO, CALIF.- Biplane, Air Combat & Warbird Adventures features off-the-wall flights to amaze even the most adventurous traveler. Their unique rides include the Red Baron Thrill Ride, pulse-pounding Top Dog Air Combat in real airplanes, you-fly-it loops and rolls in an authentic WWII Warbird, a Lucky Bastard Warbird Mission that includes a handsome military style leather jacket, a Dapper Duffer Aerial Golf Tour, a WingNut Airgasm, and a Great Gastby Fly/Dine Adventure.

The Red Baron Thrill Ride offers 2 adventurous aviators an hour long flight in a 1920’s open cockpit biplane that one reporter described as a “really high roller-coaster without the rails.” The aerial repertoire includes lazy-eights, chandelles, wifferdills, and even mock bombing runs on enemy tanks cleverly camouflaged as cows. Hold your hat granny! This is your grandfather’s airplane.

Top Dog Air Combat puts the passenger at the controls for hands-on, adrenaline pumping aerial dogfights. It’s real air combat in real aircraft! Just like in the movies. Except the passenger does the yankin' and bankin'! Everything’s real except the bullets. Now hear this: Launch aircraft! Bogey, 2 o'clock, high.

WWII Warbird Missions let you don a military flight suit, strap on a parachute, take the controls of an historic warbird, and even fly loops and rolls. Imagine being upside down looking at the blue Pacific. There’s even an hour long Lucky Bastard mission that includes a WWII training video and manual, certificate of flight, bragging rights, and a leather flight jacket. As any good fighter pilot know, it’s not how good you are, but how good you look.

The Dapper Duffer Aerial Golf Tour, is an hour long open cockpit biplane flight that offers a birdie’s-eye-view of San Diego’s most famous courses including the Four Seasons Resort Aviara, Torrey Pines, and even the exclusive Bridges course near Rancho Santa Fe. Take two planes and a foursome can fly!

The WingNut Airgasm (or, if you prefer a more politically correct name, the WingNut High Flier) offers the air-minded adventurer an hour flight in a Roaring ‘20s open cockpit biplane, a thrilling Air Combat dogfight over the Pacific, and a Wings of Gold aerobatic ride in a WWII SNJ-4 warbird. It’s a pilot’s or armchair aviatior’s dream come true.

The Great Gatsby Fly/Dine Adventure is just the thing if romance is in the air, provided, that is, that the romancee is up for something a little out of the ordinary. The evening begins with a Sunset Snuggler open cockpit biplane flight for 2. Once the sun sets, the plane climbs higher and higher to watch it set set again and again. After the flight, the intrepid aviators will enjoy 5 star dining at the Four Seasons Vivace restaurant. In keeping with the theme, dinner choices are offered in a special leather-jacket-like menu.

Biplane, Air Combat & Warbird Adventures was started in Philadelphia “on a wing without a prayer” in 1992 by Kate Lister and Tom Harnish as an escape strategy from their banking and software careers. Trading their business suits for flight suits the duo quickly found the flaw in their strategy: following two years of winter snowstorms and summer thunderstorms, Kate and Tom decided they either had to move to a suitable year round location, or go back to, gag, real jobs. Braving ten days of sub-freezing temperatures, they flew their open cockpit biplane from Philadelphia to San Diego in the middle of February (no one ever said pilots were smart).

Since that time they and their team of extraordinary pilots have flown over 90,000 happy passengers, including thousands of incentive travelers from companies like Pfizer, Ford, Mazda, Lexus, Microsoft, and many others. Even famous folks like the Crown Prince of Tonga, Princess Leah (Carrie Fisher) from Star Wars, Scotty from Star Trek, and Lorenzo Lamas have flown in their planes. Additionally, their planes have appeared in a number of TV and movie productions including The Mummy, The Invisible Man, JAG, and others.

Flights are flown from Palomar Airport in Carlsbad, CA, just 30 minutes north of downtown San Diego, and 60 minutes south of Anaheim. Flights are available 7 days a week, year round. No flying experience is required for any flights. Reservations are required. For more information call 1-800-759-5667 and ask to talk to Tom or Kate.
