San Diego Museum of ArtThe San Diego Museum of Art in Balboa Park will be the first West Coast venue for a major national touring exhibition of the contemporary photographer Annie Leibovitz. From February 10-April 22, 2007,
Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer’s Life, 1990-2005 will feature approximately 200 photographs by Leibovitz, including family photographs and portraits of public figures. www.sdmart.org.
14th Annual San Diego Latino Film FestivalAt the 14th Annual San Diego Latino Film Festival on March 8-18, 2007, audiences can enjoy screenings of short and feature-length films produced by Latinos or about the Latino experience at the Mission Valley Cinemas at Hazard Center in Mission Valley. www.sdlatinofilm.com

Museum of Contemporary Art San DiegoThe Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego’s
TRANSactions: Contemporary Latin American and Latino Art, on display now through May 13, 2007 at the museum’s La Jolla facility, examines the various lives of 42 Latin American and Latino artists to promote new interpretations of art south of the border.
Modern American Masters, on display January 21– April 15, 2007 in the brand new exhibition space of the downtown San Diego facility, features paintings by Frank Stella, Andy Warhol, Barnett Newman, Clyfford Still, and Hans Hoffman. www.mcasd.org
Museum of San Diego History The career of an acclaimed local artist is highlighted in
Belle Baranceanu: The Artist at Work, on display at the Museum of San Diego History now through May 29, 2007. Baranceanu left most of her work to the San Diego Historical Society and is most noted for a series of WPA era murals showing her response to the Great Depression and a series of striking wood block prints focused on animals she studied at the San Diego Zoo. www.sandiegohistory.org
Mingei International Museum Eva Zeisel – Extraordinary Designer Craftsman at 100 is on display at the Mingei International Museum now through June 10, 2007. This is the largest presentation of Zeisel’s work in her 75-year career during which she designed more than 100,000 objects, centered on the home and table – dinnerware, vases, candlesticks, dishes, and salt and peppershakers. www.mingei.org
Museum of Photographic Arts The Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park will present Rebels & Revelers: Experimental Decades, 1970s-1980s during January 14-April 29, 2007. The show will include more than 60 images that demonstrate a wide range of forms including assemblage, sun prints, alternative surfaces, and mixed media. Tell Me A Story: Narrative Photography Now, on display January 20-May 13, 2007, will highlight more than 50 works by contemporary artists who address the issues of narrative and use fable, fiction and cinematic conventions in their photography to tell stories. www.mopa.org
