Visitor Services Supervisor
POSITION: Visitor Services Supervisor DIVISION: Finance & Operations DEPARTMENT: Visitor Services REPORTS TO: Director & Manager of Visitor Services
General Responsibilities: Supervise overall activities, operations, staff and volunteer programs of the La Jolla Visitor Center (LJVC), and the International Visitor Information Center (IVIC) in concert with and in the absence of the Manager and/or Director of Visitor Services. Create & maintain systems to handle/distribute/keep current ConVis publications, visitor magazines, transit info, maps, flyers & supplies of brochures at the International Visitor Information Center (IVIC) and the La Jolla Visitor Center(LJVC). Coordinate distribution of ConVis publications to the Visitor Center Network & appropriate information outlets (i.e. Horton Plaza Customer Service; NCTD). Supervise the e-mail team – record monthly statistics, update standard replies & SOPs, train new team members. Requirements: Must have previous supervisory experience; demonstrated good judgment and effective decision making; experience in planning and budgeting helpful.
Strong organizational and general office skills, accuracy and attention to detail. Must be able to set priorities, meet deadlines, follow through on projects and work independently. Must be able to operate office machines; proficiency in word processing and typing required. College education or equivalent is preferred.
Must have extensive knowledge of San Diego; locations, map reading, visitor attractions, accommodations, activities, special events. Experience and commitment to exceptional customer service; pleasant phone personality, knowledge of telephone skills and etiquette; ability to meet and serve the general public. Knowledge of convention and tourism industry in San Diego is helpful. Experience working with volunteers and culturally diverse co-workers helpful. Having the ability to communicate orally with some fluency in at least one language in addition to English is preferred. Must be able to work some weekends and holidays. Willingness to comply with dress code.
