Alex Esther
Alex Esther moved from Orange County, CA to North County, San Diego 8 years ago, and has loved it. “I think it’s the space more than anything else. I don’t feel so cramped or stifled in expressing myself.” He enjoys seeing shows at Spreckels Theatre and Humphrey’s by the Bay, and for a local fix visits Twiggs or Lestat’s. Fellow San Diego musicians he listens to include Jason Mraz, Tristan Prettyman and Switchfoot. “That SO much hit mainstream music in the last 10 years has come from San Diego is very exciting! It’s encouraging to be part of a scene that embraces and encourages that drive to succeed.” When not working on his new EP due later in the year, Esther wants to learn how to surf, “I got on my first surfboard ever back in August.
