TheMATERIAL love playing in San Diego because it "has a very diverse music scene which gives us the freedom to incorporate different genres in our music." Their favorite places to see shows include Soma, "a staple for our genre of music" and the Epicentre, "they run a really tight operation." Noise Ratchet, the Fire Restart and As I Lay Dying are among their favorite local acts. On their downtime, you can find members hanging out in the bars of Ocean Beach or having a bonfire and BBQ on the beach. "San Diego is great in many ways: It's big enough that our music can be heard by a mass amount of people on local radio, yet it feels small in the sense that fans are loyal to local bands.
