The Shambles
Members of the Shambles have called San Diego home for years. They credit the melting pot of sounds in the city as an integral part of the band’s sound, “Gospel in the churches, punk and rock in the clubs, soul and jazz in the parks, traditional Mexican music and Rock en Espanol,” and they are excited by the city’s growing music scene. “The amount of world class musicians that call our town home- it’s stunning.” And even more importantly, “the sense of camaraderie that our scene has. For the most part, there is very much an ‘all for one, one for all’ mentality that is refreshing.” They consider themselves keen students of the San Diego music scene, and list Kite Flying Society, Gregory Page and Anna Troy among their favorite fellow artists. When not making music, a wander through Balboa Park is a favorite pastime, or catching a show at the Casbah, “It’s the perfect atmosphere for music. Small enough to be intimate yet big enough for a crowd to be able to let loose. Plus it’s a really friendly place, with great sound.
