Rule of 3rds
Rule of Thirds have lived here over 10 years and feel that they have real roots in San Diego. And while the city has been an influence, they feel that there is a huge diversity of music styles happening here. “It’s interesting how scene-driven San Diego music really is: it used to be all about the ‘Blink and the ‘Blime and the ‘Bizkit clones. Now, there’s DJs and hip-hop in the Gaslamp, singer/songwriter suicides in North Park, re-punk and emo in the all-ages-stages. The beach clubs have the reggae flavors, and the downtown dark holes serve up the aggression.” They like to play to all different audiences, “We never paid attention to the pigeonholing. We started out playing to the binge-drinking college kids of Pacific Beach, and have found that we can connect wherever we go. San Diego is a very accepting audience. This affords us the luxury of honesty in our music.” Describing a memorable live performance, “We played the San Diego County Fair the night of the big tsunami scare. The fair was literally deserted; we ended up playing to an audience of the booth staff carnies.” They love playing at lots of the local clubs including the Casbah, Typhoon Saloon, Zombie Lounge, ‘Canes, “Great venues, all of ‘em, but mostly because they don't tolerate mosh pits—we like pretty girls better than angry guys.” More information:ruleof3rds.com myspace.com/ruleof3rds
