This summer SeaWorld celebrates 50 years with "Sea of Surprises" a parkwide celebration featuring live entertainment, up-close animal encounters, new shows and the SeaWorld Surprise Squad delivering prizes and surprises at the park. To commemorate the event, SeaWorld is also giving away 50 trips to SeaWorld. Visit the SeaWorld Facebook page for details.
New this year, SeaWorld San Diego introduces Explorer's Reef transforming the entrance to the park with a massive wave sculpture and animal encounter. And, summer nights returns again this year on select nights between May 25 and September 1, 2014. The event features extended park hours, fireworks and special nighttime animal shows including the killer whale rock 'n' roll show, Shamu Rocks, and the sea lion and otter comedy show, Sea Lions Tonite.
During June 28-September 1, 2014, roam the park until 9:00 PM for Nighttime Zoo. Just opened this past year, the new Conrad Preby's Australian Outback where you can discover the wonders from the Land Down Under as you encounter species from wombats and wallabies to kookaburras and cockatoos. The exhibit features fascinating facts about Australian forests and wildlife and the Zoo's koala colony - the largest outside of Australia.
Enjoy extended 2014 summer hours at the Safari Park June 21 - August 17 until 7PM and from August 18 - September 1 until 6PM. Just opened at the Safari Park is the new Tull Family Tiger Trail, featuring a five-acre forested habitat for the park's Sumatran tigers. The tiger's new home includes rocks for climbing, ponds for swimming, deadwood trees to use as scratching posts and long grasses for catnaps.
In it's second season is the SeaWorld Aquatica San Diego Waterpark. Located in Chula Vista, the park features family-friendly to high-speed thrill slides, a lazy river and up-close animal encounters. New this summer is Taumata Racer a high-speed racing water slide where riders race against eachother down a 375-foot slide, around 180-degree swooping turn, and in and out of tunnels before they reach the finish line. The park is seasonal and open on weekends the end of May through Labor Day and some weekends in September and October. Hours vary from 10AM to 5, 6 or 7 PM. Check park schedule for details.
Summer hours at Legoland start June 21 through August 31, 2014 at LEGOLAND California, LEGOLAND Waterpark, and SeaLife Aquarium. New this year is the Chima Waterpark, based on the LEGO "Legends of Chima" where animal tribes battle in a mystical land for control of the precious energy source called "CHI." This new waterpark attraction features a wave pool, water slides, build-a-boat and beach area. Cost of admission is included in a ticket to the LEGOLAND Waterpark.
The park is open 10AM to 5PM daily. This summer, the park features the "Splash of Color: Wildlife and Art" exhibit, where guest discover animals and their fascinating use of color that help them camouflage and communicate in the wild.
Open from 9AM - 5PM daily, this summer the aquarium will feature a full line-up of exhibit events, guest lecturers and the Summer Green Flash Concert Series.
The museum is open daily from 10AM to 5PM where visitors can explore this remarkable City at Sea and relive nearly 50 years of world history on the longest-serving Navy aircraft carrier of the 20th century. This year the USS Midway is celebrating 10 years with family-friendly activities.
