Mardi Gras in the Gaslamp Quarter

Carnaval comes to San Diego! Celebrate Fat Tuesday at one of the largest Mardi Gras festivals west of the Mississippi! Four entertainment stages, seven bands, five DJs, dazzling cirque performers and dancing will help you let the good times roll! Don't forget to don your purple, green and gold for what is sure to be the highlight of the evening - an electric, New Orleans-style parade featuring over 30 colorful floats and a Mardi Gras King and Queen. Spicy Cajun and Creole dishes, "Rad Hatter" hats and masks will also be a part of this bead-throwing extravaganza.

The Facts

Location: historic Gaslamp Quarter
Hours: 5pm-midnight. (Street closures begin at noon)
Entry gates: 4th Ave. and G St.; 6th Ave. & K St.; 7th Ave. & Market St.; 7th Ave. & F St.
Masquerade Parade: begins at 8pm from 5th & E St. along 5th Ave. to K St. and will last approximately an hour
Tickets: $20/person on sale at entry gates on the day of the celebration.
Advance tickets ($15/person) and special discount dinner packages available through 2/7 at various Gaslamp locations (see www.gaslamp.org for details). Event is 21 and up only with a valid I.D.
Parking: all major parking lots surrounding the Gaslamp Quarter will remain open

Carnival Lounge Cirque Stage - enter at 5th or 6th Avenues between Island Ave. & J St. Sky dancers aerialists, fire dancers and stilt walkers will thrill audiences with their amazing interactive performances.

Zydeco & Blues Stage - located at 6th Ave. & 6th St.

Dance Stage - located at 6th Ave. & Island Ave. Dance the night away to the sounds of 80's All Stars and Night Fever.
