Get a bug's eye view of life when giant, robotic insects invade the San Diego Natural History Museum. You'll come face-to-face with an animated 11-foot-tall, 22-foot-long tarantula; a 19-foot-wide monarch butterfly; a pair of 27-foot-long fighting beetles and more! Hands-on interactive displays will give you the opportunity to build a bug, create a bug orchestra, make a bug rubbing, and take a robotic insect for a walk. On display will also be one of the world's largest private specimen collections featuring very weird insects from around the world. Be sure to check out a variety of great buggy events, including family movie nights, summer camps, lectures, and field trips.

Shot partially on location in Borneo, this live-action nature drama combines
incredible footage with cutting-edge IMAX® technology to explore the dramatic and savage lives of a praying mantis and a beautiful butterfly.

Head on down to the historic Gaslamp Quarter for a day of incredible music that will showcase world-renown Smooth Jazz talent, regional favorites and up-and-coming artists. Contemporary jazz artists will perform on three outdoor stages
between 4th and 7th Ave. and J and Market Streets and inside of over 20 participating restaurants, bars and clubs in the cordoned off blocks. More than
20 artists will perform including Richard Elliot, Jonathan Butler, Mindi Abair,
Rick Braun, Peter White, Brenda Russell, Wayman Tisdale and more!

A Cold-War era Soviet Submarine has surfaced in San Diego to join the
Maritime Museum of San Diego for at least the next year. Commissioned in the early 1970s, the B-39 was one of a fleet of soviet attack subs that shadowed US Navy carrier battle groups throughout the world's oceans. You'll get an accurate depiction of life aboard the diesel electric submarine as you tour the close quarters that housed a total of 78 crewmen, carried a maximum of 22 torpedoes and could dive to a depth of 985 feet.
Hours: daily, 9am-8pm
Admission: adults, $8; juniors (3-17), seniors, active military, $6; children (6-12), $5. Admission includes the B-39 Soviet Attack Submarine, the historic Star of India, the 1898 steam ferry Berkeley and the H.M.S. Surprise, a magnificent replica of an 18th century Royal Navy frigate featured in the award-winning film Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.

See the San Diego Museum of Man and its central plaza transformed into a lively Native American marketplace complete with ongoing artists' demonstrations, collector-quality jewelry, pottery, basketry, beadwork, clothing quilts, textiles, sculptures, masks, fetishes and paintings. This annual tribute to
Native American culture and art will also include Indian dancers, musicians, storytellers, and award-winning artisans who perform and demonstrate their talents. Authentic American Indian cuisine and an interactive "Crafts Corner" for children will be available.
