  Festival of Sail

Date: 8/17 - 8/21/05

The Star of India Explore the community's historic connection to the sea when more than twenty tall ships and other fascinating vessels from around the world transform the North Embarcadero into a nautical theme park. The festival kicks off with a majestic parade of tall ships into San Diego Bay where some of the favorites are sure to include the Mexican Naval officer training ship Chauhtemoc, the Guayas from Ecuador and the R. Tucker Thompson from New Zealand. The maritime museum's own Californian will be fighting it out with several other tall ships as they engage in cannon battles on the bay. Entertainment, food from dozens of restaurant booths, a family activity area, and one-of-a-kind items from festival vendors will also add to the experience.
