Birth of Giant Panda Cub - San Diego Zoo

Birth of Giant Panda Cub - San Diego Zoo With the birth of a giant panda cub to thirteen-year-old Bai Yun on August 2, the San Diego Zoo now has the largest population of giant pandas outside mainland China. While the newborn won't be on display to the public for a while, you can still see mother and baby via a close circuit camera installed in the Giant Panda Research Station birthing den. Gao Gao, the father of the new cub and Mei Sheng, a two-year-old male cub are currently on display.

The Art of Being Kuna and Peoples of Panama - Museum of Man

Peoples of Panama The museum celebrates its 90th anniversary and enduring connection to Latin America with two new exhibits that will open August 20. The Art of Being Kuna: Layers of Meaning Among the Kuna of Panama, centers on the importance of form and beauty in everyday life, narratives, rituals and healing and the visual arts. In addition to the beautiful, handmade molas (colorful appliqué blouses that are part of the Kuna's traditional dress), the exhibit features 300 objects including baskets, wooden objects gold jewelry, video stations and photo panels. Passage to Panama: Past to Present describes the lives and culture of the Ngöbe (also know as the Guaymí) peoples of the mountains of Chiriquí and Veraguas and the Chocó (currently known as the Wounann/Embera) peoples of the Darien Rainforest.

Sea to Shining Sea Music Festival - SeaWorld

Sea to Shining Sea Music Festival - SeaWorld This uplifting music festival will feature live music, animal interactions, classic cars, and more on Sept. 17-18, 24-25 and Oct. 1-2. Five music stages will feature rock, country, swing, blues and contemporary/eclectic rhythms throughout the day during park hours. The Happy Harbor stage will feature animal interactions, costume character visits, an education station and more for kids and their families.

Celebrate Dance Festival - Balboa Park

Celebrate Dance Festival - Balboa Park Eveoke Dance Theatre presents the 10th annual Celebrate Dance Festival from August 26-28. Over 50 regional dance groups will perform a diverse range of dance types including jazz, tap, ballet, modern dance, contemporary dance, hip-hop, Butoh dance and more at the Casa Del Prado Theatre and on two outdoor stages. The festival also includes street performers, lectures and workshops.
