11/10/10 – 11/13/10 So Diego Tours prides itself on showing the true essence of the city and its residences. The idea behind the tour is to introduce guests to sights and flavors that they wouldn’t have otherwise experienced without their guide, and to introduce them to the wonderful restaurant owners and chefs of San Diego. With tastes ranging from Indian and Italian Cuisine, to margaritas, tacos, and freshly brewed beer, this taste is sure to please any one and everyone!

You will experience the charming history of the Gaslamp Quarter. Learn about the Quarter’s proud founder, and walk the streets as your guide tells you about the Quarter’s commercial district, the scandalous Stingaree district, and the San Diego Asian District. As you walk through the neighborhood, your senses will be delighted with tasty samples of ethnic cuisine.

This walking history tour meets at the popular Horton Plaza. Parking here is free for 3 hours with validation. You will meet at the fountain on Broadway and 4th Ave. Your guide will walk you along 4th Ave. as he/she paints a picture of what our city was like when it was founded in the late 1800s. Explore the history and beauty of the buildings, and discover hidden secrets of Downtown San Diego. The tour will stop at various restaurants and bars where you will taste a number of the town’s food and drink.

The tour lasts approximately 3 hours and covers about 1 1/4 miles of flat terrain. The food samples along the way are enough for a full lunch. We advise that you do not eat before coming on the tour. Alcoholic beverage samples are served to guests 21 years or older. Please come prepared with your state or federal identification to varify age. Groups are limited to 15 people. Private tours may be accommodated with advance notice. Please call 619-233-8687 to make arrangements.

Walking Path: The tour covers about 1 1/4 miles of flat terrain.

Who: All ages are welcome. Alcoholic beverage tastings are limited to adults 21 years old and older.

Where to meet: 4th and Broadway at the Horton Plaza fountain in the City Park Courtyard across the street from The US Grant.
