San Diego Opera Presents "Nabucco"
Price: $30 - $210
2/20/10 – 2/28/10
"Nabucco" – Warrior. Conqueror. King. Nation after nation has fallen to the Babylonian ruler Nebuchadnezzar (Nabucco). Now he has destroyed the Temple of Jerusalem, enslaved the Hebrews, taken their revered High-Priest hostage and declared himself a god. In doing so, the full wrath of Yahweh descends on Nabucco driving him mad while his treacherous daughter usurps his crown forcing Nabucco to pray to the very god he offended. Verdi’s electrifying music tells this epic tale with breathtaking glory. "Nabucco" is the opera that solidified Verdi’s reputation as a composer and 160 years later it is still as powerful as the day it premiered. Performances: Saturday, February 20 at 7 PM; Tuesday, February 23 at 7 PM; Friday, February 26 at 8 PM; Sunday, February 28 at 2 PM. For tickets 619.533.7000 or www.sdopera.com. Tickets range $30 - $180 (some opening night sections slightly higher).
