Cody ChesnuTT began tinkering with the guitar in his early teens in his native Atlanta. His father was a manager of several local bands. This, in turn, opened doors and by age 13, he was playing shows. In his late 20s, he founded the band Crosswalk. A major-label deal was in the works, but everything fell short for him. The new millennium, however, proved golden. He hibernated in his bedroom, a homemade studio he named the Sonic Promiseland and began recording. What amassed from those personal sessions was a 36-track double-disc entitled The Headphone Masterpiece. One of his singles, “The Seed,” was re-recorded with The Roots and released as “The Seed 2.0” on The Roots’ 2002 release Phrenology. Cody has toured the US, Europe, and Australia several times over on his own and with the Roots. His blistering live show has earned him a loyal following amongst his fellow artists and has appeared on stage along with the likes of The Strokes, Macy Gray, Saul Williams, Res, The Roots, and countless others.
