The Belly Up is very excited about hosting this new singing competition. We have created an exciting, fun night that includes a full band playing behind you. There will be no A-cappella performances, no additional musical instruments being played by you, and no original music content.
We have brought in Steel Rod, a very established and well-respected group of musicians who have over half a decade of hosting Live Karaoke nights (as well as many more years of gigging all over the world)
They have an extensive song list that we ask you to choose your song from. They have about 400 “cover” songs to choose from with over 200 different artists ranging from Marvin Gaye to Metallica
What we need you to do is go check their song list and pick a song (or maybe a few in case you want to have a couple options). The band can also provide all the words in large-font book form on a music stand while you sing.Based out of L.A., Steel Rod is a cover band that has been playing for over a decade. The “Sing with” portion came about 6 years ago as a result of having so many loyal fans packing each venue, singing along, & even jumping up on stage with the band; that the guys had an idea! They started inviting their die-hard fans up on stage to perform one song. Once others started witnessing this, everybody wanted their turn at being the lead singer. This quickly became so popular that Steel Rod started once a week shows solely dedicated to the Live Karaoke. With the immediate popularity they added Eric ..s to increase their already impressive song list, & Greg as the host to add some comic relief and get the crowd fired up. . With their efforts combined, their resume is very impressive. From USO tours to corporate events, radio sponsored singing competitions, weddings, cruise-line jobs, TV shows, residencies at established music venues, & casino lounge gigs; Steel Rod have done more than the average band. With performances in countries like Germany, Japan, Iraq, Canada, Austria, Puerto Rico, Bosnia, Singapore, Mexico, Guam, Afghanistan, Kosovo, & throughout the Caribbean; these men bring a high level of showmanship to every event. Locally they have played premier venues like the Staples Center, House of Blues Hollywood & Downtown Disney, BB Kings, the San Manuel Casino, the Belly Up Tavern & several smaller venues; & gig well over 300 shows a year.
