"The Sky Tonight" Planetarium Shows (7:00 p.m.)

Price:
$10.50 for adults, $9 for seniors or children

11/04/09 "The Sky Tonight" is the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center's monthly live planetarium show in the newly renovated Space Theater. Featuring a digital tour of San Diego’s night sky in California’s largest planetarium, "The Sky Tonight" is perfect for “backyard astronomers” or anyone trying to find their way around the universe. "The Sky Tonight" normally takes place at 7 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month.

During each month's show, audiences also explore a different interesting topic in astronomy, such as supernovas, constellations or black holes. Upcoming show topics in 2009 include:

Nov 4: "Supernovae and Gamma Ray Bursts"
Dec 2: "The Constellations of Winter"

Weather and operational requirements permitting, the San Diego Astronomy Association provides free telescope viewing outdoors following the Fleet's planetarium show. This is a separate free event--planetarium show tickets are not required.

Due to the darkness required in the theater and the sophisticated nature of the material presented, “The Sky Tonight” show is not recommended for children 5 years and under. Tickets to the planetarium shows are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Fleet Members may make advance reservations by calling (619) 238-1233 ext. 810. It is recommended that all others arrive at the Science Center by 6:30 p.m. to purchase tickets for this popular program. Tickets for “The Sky Tonight” include a visit to the Exhibit Galleries.
