Meet 2014 California Open Featured Artist, Carolyn Wolf Russell, Multimedia Artist
Carolyn Wolf-Russell is a primarily self-taught artist who grew up in a small town in Wisconsin. Her mother encouraged both her, and her older brother to explore their creativity with boxes of colored pencils, watercolors, and even the infamous paint-by-number kits! When she wasn't making a mess in the house she was outside with her friends, turning over rocks and exploring the Midwestern landscape with its flora and fauna.
Carolyn is currently a member of the San Diego Visual Artists Guild, and has been a member of the National Wildlife Artists Association, Pacific Southwest Wildlife Association, California Gourd Society, Kern River Valley Artists Association and was a Certified Judge for, and member of the American Gourd Society. She is one of the Founding Members of the Vista Art Foundation, was the Director of the Foundation's Art Gallery for over two years, and was their Vice President in 2009.
Some of Carolyn's more notable exhibitions are the San Diego Museum of Natural History, a One Woman, and a two woman show at Rancho Buena Vista Adobe Museum in Vista CA, and the Fallbrook Art Center, Brandon and Pinnell Galleries in Fallbrook CA. She has done numerous juried art fairs and events throughout Southern California and Colorado.
