One of the oldest and most prestigious equestrian competitions in the Western US, the Annual Del Mar National Horse Show is comprised of a week each of Western, Dressage and Hunter/Jumper competition. Over 3,000 horses take part, representing many breeds, at the equestrian complex at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in coastal Del Mar. Spectators will see reining, spins, sliding stops, elegant dressage moves choreographed to music, daredevil show jumping, trick riders, comedy acts, thrills and spills, and more.
Western Week - April 17-20
The highlight of Western Week includes the Night of the Horse. This year's theme is Hoof Beats Through History on April 19 that features legendary Anthony DeLongis, accomplished mounted shooter, Hollywood actor and director, published writer, voiceover artist, Black Belt and USA Martial Arts and International Knife Throwers Hall of Fame inductee, will delight spectators with his warfare skills. Clay Maier will showcase driving dressage and jumping during his Friesian Spectacular demonstrating maneuvers used by the cavalry.
Dressage Week - April 24-27
Includes qualifying competitions as well as an Evening of Musical Freestyles dressage competition.
Hunter/Jumper Week - April 29 - May 4
It features the $100,000 Grand Prix of Del Mar, an evening filled with exciting speed, agility and nail-biting competition!
World class horses and riders will again set the bar very high literally and figuratively as they vie for this prestigious title and hefty paycheck! New this year, the $10,000 Speed Derby will provide plenty of action, thrills, and excitement.
