The New Children’s Museum is a dynamic new model of a museum that celebrates children and the arts. The Museum empowers children and families to think, play and create through participatory exhibitions, engaging art-making activities, captivating artistic performances, and in-depth educational opportunities. Located in a striking green facility in downtown San Diego, NCM is a destination for children of all ages, from toddler to teen.
Adjacent to the Museum is a public park, with plenty of grass for running, jumping or picnicking. There are also swings, climbing equipment, and a great view of the trains!
Always new! We’re called The New Children’s Museum because there’s always something new to experience. Our hands-on art projects and unique gallery games change monthly. Kids of all ages will always find a new source of wonder.

Visionary and award-winning architect Rob Wellington Quigley designed the Museum's 50,000-square-foot green building. His design signals the Museum’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
The new structure utilizes innovative, sustainable architecture and infra-structural practices, including recycled building materials, a passive air handling system, photovoltaic panels, water-saving devices, natural daylighting and convection cooling. The New Children’s Museum is one of the first green museums in California.
