From mariachis to margaritas, the Mexican city of Guadalajara is known as the birthplace of all things synonymous with “fiesta.” And in Old Town San Diego, the spirit lives on – at Casa Guadalajara!
Casa Guadalajara, the popular Old Town restaurant owned and operated by Diane Powers, features an imaginative menu with traditional and contemporary cuisine, reflecting dishes of the regional villages of Mexico. Signature offerings include award-winning seafood dishes, creative, chipotle chile-inspired entrees and sauces, and guacamole made fresh to order at the table.
The restaurant’s cuisine is presented with flair in beautiful dining rooms and patios reminiscent of a gracious Mexican hacienda. Old wooden gates, splashing fountains, colorful talavera tiles, wrought iron fixtures and outdoor dining under a 300-year-old California pepper tree make for a spectacular dining experience.
Casa Guadalajara features moderate prices and generous portions, outdoor dining patios enhanced by gardens, tile fountains and mariachis; and, of course, tequila-splashed margaritas “a la Guadalajara”: fresh-lime, mango, strawberry and raspberry.
Creating a sunny and welcoming entry into the Old Town community, Casa Guadalajara is just steps away from the new Bazaar del Mundo Shops. The Shops feature a deluge of artisans’ specialty and Mexican - inspired treasures and unique colorful accessories for the home, plus fashion, arts, crafts and collectibles.
Many of the Shops will be recognizable by original Bazaar del Mundo devotees: The Gallery featuring artisans’ jewelry; Laurel Burch Gallerita; Ariana; Artes de Mexico; Guatemala Shop; and the popular and newly-expanded kitchen shop, rich in Southwest spirited home decor. A delightful, vibrant environment, framed in Mexican wrought iron and tile, with cascades of lights, richly decorated walls, tiled staircases and vendor carts overflowing with handcrafted Mexican flowers and folk art provide a visual feast.
The Casa Guadalajara restaurant features strolling mariachis and classic Mexican musical trios performing nightly throughout the week.
A spirited setting for private parties, the restaurant features banquet facilities for wedding receptions and other special events, for groups of 15 - 100. Reservations Accepted.
