Located off Interstate 15 in North San Diego County on the south facing foothills of Palomar Mountain, is the La Jolla Indian Campground. A favorite destination of campers, beautiful and rustic La Jolla is shaded with oak trees, has abundant wildflowers, sage and other indigenous plants including berries, roots, and seeds. Small and large game such as rabbit, deer and wild turkeys are also plentiful. The La Jolla Band of Luiseno Indians has existed here for thousands of years.
The campground is unique in the county because it is the only one with a river running though. The San Luis Rey River, which is fed by natural springs, enhances everyone's camping experience, and tubing is the featured activity. Tubes are available for rent on-site.
Guests can choose from two great options, rustic tent camping or RV camping. We have numerous popular group sites designed for family/friend reunions and can also accommodate large corporate or other group events. Individual campsites are rustic and all have a fire ring. Many of the individual and group sites are available along the river and picnic benches and barbecues are scattered throughout the campground. There are also 36 RV sites with hookups.
There are flush toilets and showers as well as porta potties for our guests. There is a sports bar on site and a convenience store and gas station right outside the campground. Reservations are advised for the group sites, and can be made, but are not necessary, for the individual campsites. We offer day passes as well as overnight camping and welcome backpackers, motorcyclists and bicyclers.
Discounts are offered for active and retired military, enrolled Native Americans, and seniors (65+) with valid identification card - single vehicles only, excludes group rates or other specials. No pets allowed.
