The Society began its 70-year retrospective of World War II in December 2011 with an exhibit in Wisteria Cottage entitled "Home Front La Jolla" which ran from December 7, 2011 to May 27, 2012. Concurrently, we produced a Lecture Series related to World War II topics. Entitled "What We Are Fighting For," this is the last lecture event in our commemoration of World War II. The lecturer, Susan Marie Frontczak, will take us back to late 1942 when Mrs. Roosevelt has recently returned from England where she visited with soldiers, royalty, and working people experiencing the ravages of war. Using a few props and a simple stage set, Frontczak interprets how America's formidable first lady affected and was affected by the war.

At 7:30 PM on November 14th, please join us for Susan Marie Frontczak's reenactment presentation taking place at St. James-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in the Van Schaick room. Tickets can be purchased in the La Jolla Historical Society's office or on its website.
