Oceanside Museum of Art and San Diego History Center (SDHC) have collaborated with local art scholars to produce a joint exhibition that offers visitors a unique and diverse perspective from which to view our region's landscape. Nature Improved: San Diego Artists Interpret Our Landscape, will open at SDHC on September 19 and at OMA on October 26 and will continue through January 26, 2014 at SDHC and February 23, 2014 at OMA.
The dual exhibition - the first such collaboration between SDHC and OMA - is a juried invitational with submissions from local artists. The exhibition will present approximately 26 regional artists and comprise of 90 artworks between the two institutions.
San Diego History Center Members Opening Reception will be Thursday, September 19, 5:30 to 7:30 PM. SDHC and OMA members and honored guests are complimentary.
Oceanside Museum of Art Mega Exhibition Reception with Scape/Escape: Stephen Curry, Nature Improved: San Diego Artists Interpret Our Landscape, Urban Entropy: James Enos, Contemporary Landscape Photography: An International Perspective,will be Saturday, November 16, 6:00 to 8:00 PM and is complimentary for OMA and SDHC members, $10 for nonmembers.
In conjunction with the exhibition both museums will offer public programming centered around landscape art and related themes. Information can be found at sandiegohistory.org and oma-online.org.
OMA members receive free admission to SDHC through January 26, 2014 and complimentary or discounted admission to select Nature Improved programs. SDHC is located in Balboa Park.
