This summer sit under the stars and enjoy a screening of the How to Make an American Quilt (1995) directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse.

Winona Ryder stars as a young woman at crossroads in her life. On a visit to her grandmother and great-aunt, she is embraced by the older women's quilting circle and gains perspective from their tales of life and love.

Grab a blanket, bring a few friends, and be sure to arrive early for a good seat on the lawn. Entry starts at 4:00 PM. Bring your own picnic dinner or order from Panama 66 (kitchen open until 5:00 PM, Grab-n-Go available until supplies last). lease note alcoholic beverages are allowed in Balboa Park until 8:00 PM. Drinks purchased at Panama 66 cannot be taken out to the Botanical Lawn. Pets are allowed on the lawn. Films begin at sundown.

Due to popular demand, the Museum's summer film series has moved to the Botanical Garden east of the Museum to accommodate more attendees. Film in the Garden aims to complement and enhance the enjoyment and understanding of visual art through film and other art forms.

Films are free and open to the public.
