Celebrate the Spirit of 45' on Sunday, August 11, 2013, at the Veterans Museum and Memorial Center from 10 am to 2 pm in Balboa Park. Enjoy WWII era Music, Vehicle and Equipment Displays, Reenactors, and hear stories from WWII Veterans from all services who served in the Pacific, Europe, and on the Home Front.
In 2010 Congress unanimously approved "Spirit of '45 Day", a new National Day of Remembrance to recall the victory celebrations at the end of WWII, to be celebrated the second Sunday in August. This celebration will occur across the county and San Diego's celebration will be held at the Veterans Museum and Memorial Center, 2115 Park Blvd, in Balboa Park. Activities include: WWII-era music, meet and interact with WWII Veterans, static display of WWII vehicles and equipment, and WWII Reenactors in uniform. There will also be clowns and face painting for the young ones; concessions and food will also be available. At noon there will be brief remarks by WWII Veterans from Pearl Harbor, the Normandy, Iwo Jima, and from the American, European and Pacific Theaters.
