San Diego Museum of Art
4/29/16 - 5/1/16
This concert celebrates the 450th birthday of John Dowland, the finest lutenist of his age, and one of England's greatest renaissance composers. In 1604 he published Lachrimae, a collection of music for viols and lute, which includes a "transcendental journey" based on his most famous song, "Flow my teares," as well as a series of remarkable galliards, allemandes, and pavanes. Fretwork is one of the world's premiere viol consorts, and returns to San Diego with equally noted lutenist Elizabeth Kenny.
