Tim Booth is currently the general manager of the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines resort in San Diego. He assumed operations responsibility in October 2016 of the 394-guest room resort featuring 30,000 square feet of meetings space and is alongside the 18th hole on the hollowed grounds of The Torrey Pines Golf Courses. The landmark resort located between La Jolla and Del Mar, is a popular venue for weddings and famous for its impressive views of the Pacific Ocean and of course the legendary Torrey Pines Golf Reserve.
A 25-year Hilton veteran, Tim began his hospitality career in food and beverage and catering in the city of New Orleans and worked at several area properties before joining Hilton in 1991 at Hilton New Orleans Airport Hotel and Conference Center. Advancing successfully in management, he held general manager and hotel manager positions at Hilton Suites Brentwood Tennessee, Hilton Chicago, Doubletree Hotel and Executive Meeting Center Somerset New Jersey and The Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf and Tennis Resort.
Prior to San Diego Tim worked internationally with Hilton in Mexico and was the general manager of the 343 room Hilton Los Cabos Beach and Golf resort.He was responsible for the complete rebuilding of the resort after impact of Hurricane Odile in 2014. Before taking the international assignment in Mexico, he was general manager of a new construction project 400-room Hilton Santa Fe Buffalo Thunder golf, spa and casino resort, from May 2007 – April 2011. During his tenure there he directed the resort’s opening and Hilton’s first management agreement with a Native American nation. While there, he also held the dual role as general manager of the adjacent Homewood Suites at Buffalo Thunder with 81 extended-stay units.
A native of New Orleans, Tim attended University of New Orleans in the hospitality and restaurant program. He has served and participated on many tourism-related industry boards and charitable organizations including the United States Overseas Advisory Council and co-chair of Baja Sur. He has also served as board director of both the New Mexico and Southern Arizona Lodging and Resort Associations, among many others throughout his career.
Tim and his wife Kim have two grown children three grandchildren who all share a deep love of our Hospitality and Travel industries. Tim’s father introduced him to golf at an early age and it is something he has developed like many golfers that love hate relationship which will never end. Kim and Tim when not in San Diego will most likely be found with family in New Orleans or Nashville.
