The San Diego Tourism Authority mission is to drive visitor demand to economically benefit the San Diego region. Tourism is the third largest segment of San Diego's economy and employs approximately 189,900 people.
The San Diego Tourism Authority is a private, non-profit, mutual benefit corporation composed of approximately 900 member organizations, businesses, local governments, and individuals seeking a better community through the visitor industry. San Diego Tourism Authority members include tourism-related entities in such categories as lodging, dining, arts& attractions, shopping, and transportation, among others, as well as other companies indirectly involved in tourism.
As a sales and marketing organization, the main objective of the San Diego Tourism Authority is to promote and market the San Diego region as a preferred vacation and meeting destination. The San Diego Tourism Authority also represents and supports the interests of the visitor industry as a whole.
Provide assistance to the Director of Cultural Tourism. Coordinate marketing programs, communications, and interactive media to support the SDTA’s Balboa Park initiative. Prepare power point presentations and program of work reports. Coordinate calendars, create correspondence and interact with stakeholders as directed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist the Director of Balboa Park Cultural Tourism with program development, marketing plans, grant proposals and communications.
Prepare presentations and reports to Boards, committees, community, and industry groups as directed.
Coordinate Balboa Park web and interactive content submissions for SDTA digital channels. Support the Web & Interactive team with content writing, editing and approval as needed. Monitor digital channels for Balboa Park inclusion and cultural tourism brand integrity.
Coordinate marketing promotions including interfacing with media outlets, securing creative assets from Balboa Park partners by working closely with Director, Park-wide Communications (BPCP) and sharing program deliverables with stakeholders.
Coordinate with the SDTA Communications Team meet defined business goals.
Manage files and promotional materials.
Schedule meetings and handle correspondence.
Provide back-up phone support for the SDTA administrative team.

Good writing and editing skills.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Computer literate with excellent working knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel.
Digital marketing savvy (social media, web and mobile).
Organized, attention to detail, ability to juggle multiple projects, initiative, judgment and excellent customer service.
Four-year college degree in marketing, business administration or related field and at least one-year of work experience in marketing, advertising, public relations, or tourism related business.
Arts and culture experience a plus.
