2021 U.S. Open Championship
The 2021 U.S. Open marks the third USGA championship for the South Course and the second time it will play host to the national championship.
It’s a great way to enjoy the San Diego sites all day and still play a round after sunset.
Golf is a daytime activity virtually everywhere in San Diego County. However there is one place to go when you're up for a round of golf after the sun has gone down - Mission Bay Golf Course.
The facilities are lit for night play, allowing golfers to hit balls at the driving range and play the course until 9:30 PM. The last 18-hole tee time is 6:22 PM and the last nine-hole tee time is 8:00 PM. The par-58 course, including four par-fours, is short enough that you don't lose sight of your ball and long enough that it still represents a challenge.
Since Mission Bay is predominantly a par-three course, it is easy to get a 18-hole round completed in less than three hours. The front nine includes three holes of less than 100 yards, so work with the wedge here. Several other holes are in the 130- to 140-yard range, giving many golfers an opportunity to test their short irons. The 2,719-yard course includes four par-fours - they saved the 291-yard longest hole for last - so there are opportunities to get out the driver.
