Southeastern San Diego

Where Diversity Inspires

From festivals and cultural fairs to panoramic views and outdoor activities, there are boundless options for the intrepid urban explorer in the neighborhoods of Southeastern San Diego.

Festive Cultural Fairs

For a real feel of what Southeastern San Diego offers, check out the annual Diamond Street Festival, which draws thousands to the area and includes food stands, vendors and multiple stages for performances. Local art lovers, foodies and locals alike gather to experience the wealth of talented artists and artisans. Another can't-miss festival is the annual FilAmFest. Held every October, this celebration of Filipino American arts and culture features two stages of live entertainment and a culinary pavilion with Filipino specialties.

The Happening Hub

If you’re looking for something to do, look no further than Market Creek Plaza, home to a colorful array of shops, restaurants and even an outdoor amphitheater. While at Market Creek Plaza, make sure to check out the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation, which hosts live performances, concerts and other community-minded events. Don’t forget to check out the art that covers the backside of the amphitheater.

Where to Eat

Fuel your Southeastern San Diego adventure at one of many delicious culinary spots in this diverse neighborhood. A favorite among locals is Fresheria, which takes traditional Mexican dishes and adds a healthy twist to them. From juices to tortas to salads, there’s something for everyone here. To get your caffeine fix with community connection, head to Project Reo Collective for a delicious latte, hot chocolate or cup of fair-trade coffee.

Get Outdoors

For adventure seekers, take a hike up Rollercoaster Hill for some of the best views in town. Nature lovers can head to Chollas Lake Park where they will find ample opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, including activities such as fishing, bike riding and scenic strolling.
