Ocean Beach Highlights
Sunset Cliffs
Sunset Cliffs
On the southern end of Ocean Beach, Sunset Cliffs Boulevard traces a beautifully rugged, 1.5-mile stretch of bluffs. Pounded by surf, the cliffs shift and erode, occasionally forming new rock arches and grottos. The runners, cyclists, yogis, photographers and beachcombers who flock there each evening know that the west-facing cliffs’ name is well-deserved as one of the best places to watch the sun set in San Diego.
Dog Beach
Dog Beach
Located at the west end of Voltaire St., this off-leash dog beach is one of the most popular in San Diego. Dogs can play fetch in the surf or run free on the wide, sandy beach that ebbs and flows with the daily tide.
Robb Field Skateboard Park
Robb Field Skateboard Park
Robb Field Skateboard Park in Ocean Beach is the first skateboard park built by the City of San Diego and was designed with input from top local skateboarders, such as Tony Hawk. It is a free, unsupervised entry-level street course as well as a supervised area with advanced elements, including large ramps and a bowl area for the experienced skater. Robb Field also contains a public dog park, playgrounds, grassy picnic areas and tennis courts.
Newport Avenue
Newport Avenue
With a funky vibe all its own, Ocean Beach features a unique collection of antique and vintage stores, bars, restaurants, artist studios and surf shops, most of which can be found on Newport Avenue, the main road through town. Dotted with palm trees and anchored by the Ocean Beach pier at the end of the street, it’s the perfect avenue for people watching, shopping, sipping and enjoying San Diego beach culture.

OB Pier
OB Pier
Built in 1966, the 1,971-foot Ocean Beach Municipal Pier is the longest concrete pier in the world and the second longest ocean pier in California. The pier was originally constructed for fishing but quickly became a popular landmark for residents and visitors alike to walk, photograph, and watch the surfers riding the waves below. (Note: The City of San Diego has elected to keep the storm-damaged pier closed to public access while the city moves forward with a long-term solution to replace it.)
OB Oktoberfest
OB Oktoberfest
With both family-friendly and adult activities, Ocean Beach Oktoberfest has fall food and fun for everyone. Visitors can enjoy a classic German brew or local beer, plus live music by local and nationally touring artists, contests, vendors, giveaways and more.
