REBELFLIX - Experiencias de Resistencias y Autonomias a través del cine.
Experiences of Resistances and Autonomies through the cinema

Let's take a look at other realities, those that tell us of struggles, resistances, and autonomies among “the underdogs”, those who resist disappearing in this system of consumption that turns everything into merchandise. We invite you to our Fridays of discussion and cinema of Resistances and Autonomies.
We are now joined by EPF media, distributors and producers of innovative documentaries from around the world that educate and raise awareness of social issues, cultures and the arts and that inspire people to generate positive changes in our communities.

In this second season we will screen three award-winning documentaries: The Cloud Forest, Recovering Paradise and Swift feet.

The Totally Fake Latino News with Culture Clash

By Culture Clash
La Jolla Playhouse Commission
June – October, 2020

Culture Class offers 10-minute doses of levity, poetics and payasadas {clowning}, from their homes and streets of SoCal and beyond. While the nation’s premier Latino Performance Trio – Richard Montoya,  Ricardo Salinas and Herbert Siguenza – abides by social distancing and science, they recognize the need to chronicle the isolation, joys and silver linings of their artsy activist lives in a fake news pandemic-ready format. We got this America! Send in the Clash Clowns!

Jens Rossen

Oct 5 - Dec 13, 2020

Sparks Gallery is pleased to present a solo show by San Diego artist Jens Rossen. This exhibition, in partnership with Exclusive Collections Gallery, will showcase the artist’s newest body of work titled, “Segues.”

Born in Denmark, Jens Rossen is an expressionist painter whose paintings play on the viewers’ senses, transporting them into the realm of the sublime. Throughout his formative years, Rossen traveled back and forth from Denmark to California, resulting in a depth of influences manifesting itself within his own artwork.

“The obvious influences of de Kooning, Kline and even Pollock are melded together with his Scandinavian sensibility of naturalism so that a fresh new experience is to be found for the viewer in these welcoming, enlightening works of art” – Jamie Ellin Forbes
