The Capitol Steps

Oct 19, 2019

OVER 30 YEARS AGO, the Capitol Steps began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them. In the years that followed, many of the Steps ignored the conventional wisdom (“Don’t quit your day job!”), and although not all of the current members of the Steps are former Capitol Hill staffers, taken together the performers have worked in a total of eighteen Congressional offices and represent 62 years of collective House and Senate staff experience.

Bon Temps Second Saturday Dance

Nov 5, 2018 - ongoing

Monthly dances of the Bon Temps Social Club of San Diego feature Louisiana-style live music with a dance lesson for beginners before the dance. They are usually held on the second Saturday evening of the month at the War Memorial Building in San Diego’s beautiful Balboa Park. The free-with-admission dance lesson begins at 6:20 p.m., and the open dancing to live music is 7:00 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. The philosophy of the club is “If you’re smiling you’re doing it right” — which is another way of saying everyone at any age or skill level is welcome at our dances.
