This October Halloween Aglow returns to Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego for two nights of Halloween fun with an educational twist. The event takes place October 25 and 26 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Modeled after Oceans at Night, the aquarium’s popular adults-only event, Halloween Aglow celebrates the wonders and mysteries of the ocean after dark in a fun family-friendly atmosphere. After the sun goes down, the aquarium will transform into a glowing nightscape featuring live music, a costume contest and trick-or-treat stations. The Hausmann Quartet and Maritime Museum of San Diego are excited to partner to present the ninth season of Haydn Voyages: Music at the Maritime, a quarterly concert series performed aboard one of the Museum’s historic world-class vessels, the 1898 steam ferryboat Berkeley that operated for 60 years on San Francisco Bay. All concerts are Sundays at 2:30 p.m., and include an intermission for a total length of under two hours. Each creative program will also include informative and entertaining commentary between selections from noted UC Santa Barbara musicologist Derek Katz.

Together with the Legacy Ukulele Ensemble, Peter Luongo will present a fun and educational workshop for attendees and a special ukulele performance.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own ukuleles or borrow one from the Museum. All skill levels can be incorporated, and everyone involved will feel the special thrill that comes from making music with others.
