Rising Tide

San Diego Art Institute (SDAI) presents Rising Tide, which will run from November 24, 2018 through January 6, 2019. Curated by San Diego Art Institute’s Deputy Director, Sarah Trujillo-Porter, the multi-media show will feature solo exhibitions by Francisco Eme, Jacob Sundstrom, and Jana Brike. Distinct in vision and style, the works each create immersive environments that evoke stillness and space for contemplation. Whether through interdisciplinary art, sound, or uncanny symbolism, each installation provides a fertile arena in which thoughts can rise to the surface.

Her-Story

Nov 20, 2018 - ongoing

View the early days of American settlement in San Diego through the eyes (and words) of six intrepid women pioneers who share their unique perspectives of their new home in their writings.

Their accounts include stories of life in Old Town; parties at Horton House; visiting La Jolla Cove, the Hotel Del Coronado, and the Sweetwater River; and the new cultures and wildlife they encountered. These early female pioneers provide a glimpse into the small, dusty town San Diego once was and invite you to imagine their reality.

Finding a well preserved classic (or antique) car stored in a forgotten barn or warehouse is a common dream of collectors. It’s best when said car is in perfect condition and simply needs gas to drive away. This 1928 Studebaker was found in less than perfect condition, but all of the parts are there and they are in reasonably good shape.

Rococo Rivals and Revivals

Oct 26 - Dec 30, 2018

The Timken Museum of Art is proud to present its fall exhibition Rococo, Rivals and Revivals. Composed of 12 objects, paintings, drawings and prints, featuring regional, national and international loans, this exhibition will be presenting, for the first time in Southern California, a global vision on the different personalities and schools of Rococo. If this aesthetically pleasing genre has become one of the public’s favorite, it is almost impossible to reunite the main actors of this play under one roof, as if the rivalry between them had been passed throughout the centuries – not unlike the protagonists depicted in The Italian Comediansby Antoine Watteau, on loan from the National Gallery, Washington D.C. It is at the Timken that those masters will be presented and confronted to each other, where you will be able to contempl
