Climate change, global health, and sustainability are some of the most pressing concerns of the 21st century, especially for future generations. SDAI’s Illumination was positioned squarely at the intersection of art, science, and technology, and uses these interconnected fields to boost public understanding of contemporary issues and explore solutions, both real and imagined.

SDAI's 360 Video Series was recorded using 360 video technology. To watch 360 Illumination on a computer, simply start the video as you normally would. While it's playing, you can click and drag anywhere in the video screen to change the viewing direction or use the arrow disc on the top left of the screen. To view on 360 your smartphone, you can either rotate your phone to adjust the view or touch the screen to move the viewing direction.
* Curated by Chi Essary @chiessary, 16 of the 26 artists in the show produced work after teaming up with scientists and technologists from seven major research institutions: La Jolla Institute for Immunology, Qualcomm Institute/Calit2, Salk Institute, Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Scripps Research, and UC San Diego.
