Regional Artists Market

Jun 4 - ongoing

An online marketplace for functional contemporary art created by regional artists.

A curated online market full of items from selected regional artists, tailored to be reflective of the moment. We are starting small and focusing for now entirely on functional items meant to comfort and inspire. A core part of RAM is supporting artists, and we do this through microgrants to empower artists to make functional items that build their capacity for earned income and economic resilience. RAM artists receive a full 60% of every sale. This means, when you purchase from RAM, you are directly supporting artists and vibrant creative communities.

Sidewalks and streets of Old Town have become an amazing outdoor dining experience offering guests safe, social distance dining, shopping and siteseeing! Enjoy the outdoor patios of our restaurants and our retail businesses. All of the retail businesses and restaurants are creating a festive atmosphere by decorating the outside of their business with white lights and other festive decorations.

In addition, starting in August through September 27 there will be a street closure on San Diego Avenue from Thursday through Sunday to make room for the restaurants and businesses in that area to move onto the sreets. Visit all of Old Town from Tayor Street to Old Town Avenue. Wear your mask and enjoy the birthplace of California all summer long.

Living Room Lecture

Oct 8, 2020

The deserts of the American southwest contain one of the largest concentrations of geoglyphs outside of Peru’s Nazca Lines. These ancient Native American works of earthen art can be up to hundreds of feet long, and yet are often invisible until viewed from above. Before drones, GPS, or Google Maps, photographer Harry Casey began a unique archaeology project. Armed with nothing more than topographic maps, 35mm film cameras, and his beloved Piper J3 Cub aircraft, Casey spent thirty-five years documenting the region’s geoglyphs before natural erosion and human intervention could destroy these fragile sites.
