"Paint Promenade" an Art Exhibition

The San Diego Watercolor Society presents "Paint Promenade", an art exhibition juried by award-winning artist Craig Anderson.

Opening Reception

The Opening Reception is Friday June 2 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM with 95-100 original ready-to-hang paintings for sale, plus wine, food and the fellowship of other art enthusiasts. Also showing at the Reception will be the winners of the 2017 Water Conservation Poster Contest for children in grades 1-6 sponsored by the San Diego Public Utilities Department.

Snorkel with the Leopard Sharks

Join aquarium naturalists and visit leopard sharks in their underwater home off the La Jolla Coast. Pick up snorkel tips as you discover the abundant variety of animals that make their homes among the kelp, sandy bottom, and rocks. Intermediate swimming ability is required and previous snorkeling experience is recommended. Participants must supply their own gear. Ages 10+ (minors must also be accompanied by a paid adult). Pre-purchase is required. Tickets are $30 for the Public and $25 for Birch Aquarium Members. Please note, shark snorkels does not meet at Birch Aquarium. Shark snorkels occur from July through September. See our website for a list of dates. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit aquarium.ucsd.edu or call 858-534-7336. Proceeds support exhibits and educational programming at Birch Aquarium at Scripps.

Musical Voice of the Theremin

Randy George is one of a small handful of musicians in the world today that can carry the title of Theremin virtuoso.

Joined by a variety of musicians, Randy will demonstrate the Theremin's musical range - from sounding like a human voice, a stringed instrument, a wind instrument and more. Difficult to master, this concert will be a rare opportunity to experience first hand the beauty of this innovative and pioneering instrument.

Randy has dedicated his life as a musician to mastering the Theremin. Randy holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Texas and is best known for his contributions to the escalating worldwide awareness of the Theremin online. His video creations featuring the Theremin in a variety of musical contexts have been seen by over 20 million people.

Danny Green Trio + Strings

A rising creative force on the Southern California jazz scene, San Diego pianist/composer Danny Green has distinguished himself with his touch and affinity for combining elements of jazz, Brazilian, and classical music. The Danny Green Trio + Strings project revolves around Danny's original compositions arranged for his trio (with bassist Justin Grinnell and drummer Julien Cantelm) plus strings. It includes members of the San Diego Symphony performing on violin, viola and cello. The ensemble has performed at a number of venues in San Diego including a live radio broadcast on KSDS Jazz 88.3's "Jazz Live."
