The celebrated artistic dream team of Ken and Stephanie Goldman will guide you through the fascinating history and exciting future of watermedia art, showcasing six decades of creativity, transformation, and bold experimentation. This event will highlight how watermedia has evolved—from traditional techniques to contemporary innovations that are reshaping the art world today.  There will be a Hands-on segment to show and describe new materials, techniques and tools.

BOARDED! A New Pirate Adventure Experience

Apr 5 - ongoing

These popular 90-minute performances are staged aboard the Maritime Museum of San Diego’s 16th-century Spanish galleon San Salvador. Guests will be fully engaged in pirate theatrics at the dock and underway on San Diego Bay. This hilarious interactive show puts visitors right in the middle of the pirate action. Participants will be sworn in as part of the ship crew, trained how to navigate, sword fight, bail water from a sinking ship, escape from the King’s Jail, swab the deck and other pirate skills. Choose from two 90-minute performances at 10:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. Tickets include general admission! So arrive early and check - in 15 to 30 minutes before your show. Then after you return to the Museum docks, continue the fun as your explore the rest of the Maritime Museum fleet and all of the fascinating below decks exhibits!

Sunset Scripps Pier Walks

Join Birch Aquarium educators on an exclusive walking tour of Scripps Pier. Discover the research conducted at Scripps Oceanography, examine plankton samples under the microscope, dissect a squid, learn about local shark research and more!

Advanced Reservation Required. Participants must be ages 9+ (Children ages 9 to 17 must be accompanied by an adult). Takes place on select Saturdays and Sundays through April 2025 with tour times varying with sunset.

Between the Lines, an Art Exhibition

The San Diego Watercolor Society proudly presents “Between the Lines”, juried by award-winning artist, Joan Merrick. The water-based media exhibition runs Dec 29, 2024 to Feb 1, 2025, at our Gallery in The ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station. The Opening Reception is Friday, Jan 3, 5-8 pm with over 95 ready-to-hang original paintings plus refreshments and the fellowship of other art enthusiasts. The Gallery is open Weds-Sun, 11am – 3pm.  The paintings can also be viewed and purchased online.  Please visit www.sdws.org for more information.
