The Keating Hotel is the first true luxury boutique hotel in downtown San Diego's historic Gaslamp District. Our unique, historic property was designed by Pininfarina, designers of Ferrari and Maserati, and recently underwent a make-over with famous TV Chef and Hotelier, Gordon Ramsay.
In 1890, Fannie Keating collaborated with architects James and Merritt Reid (of the famed Hotel Del Coronado), in the construction of a downtown office building as a tribute to her late husband, George J. Keating. The Keating Building was constructed at a cost of $135,000, incorporating the best of modern conveniences. It quickly became one of the most prestigious office buildings in San Diego, rivaling buildings in New York and Chicago. Through its long history of tenants, the Keating Building has been home to Henry Lord Gay, Founder of the American Institute of Architects; photographer T.J. Sloan; the San Diego Public Library; and San Diego Trust & Savings Bank, whose original, underground vault currently serves as the hotel's wine cellar.
Located in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter, on the corner of 5th Avenue and F Street in Downtown San Diego, the hotel is within walking distance of the San Diego Convention Center, PETCO Park, the eclectic Horton Plaza, shops, restaurants, lounges, bars and nightclubs. With Southern California's quaint and casual attitude and downtown's sophisticated and chic ambiance, The Keating Hotel is one of San Diego's premier boutique luxury hotel.
Stanzas and Suites
European sensibility meets SoHo style in The Keating's 35 luxurious stanzas (Italian for "guestroom") and suites, featuring custom-designed furnishings by Pininfarina. The loft-like accommodations feature the building's original exposed brick walls, vaulted ceilings and an open floor plan with glass-walled bathrooms and oversized walk-in showers with overhead rain fixtures.
