2023 International Air & Space Hall of Fame Gala

Jessica Meir, distinguished NASA astronaut, biologist and a pivotal member of the groundbreaking Artemis program, which intends to land the first woman and next man on the Moon, and General Atomics – Aeronautical Systems Inc., a worldwide leader in unmanned aerial and radar systems, are joining William Shatner, Star Trek’s Captain James T. Kirk, Royce Williams, American aviator and Navy Cross recipient, and Robert DeLaurentis, record-setting American aviator, as the honorees to be celebrated at San Diego Air & Space Museum’s annual star-studded International Air & Space Hall of Fame gala on Oct. 21, 2023.

A Splendid Decennium: Victorian to Vanguard

he Gaslamp Museum at the Davis-Horton House is thrilled to announce the new exhibit, “A Splendid Decennium: Victorian to Vanguard.” The exhibit will infuse the House with works from internationally-acclaimed fiber artist Marty Ornish, exploring a decade of political, environmental, and feminist perspectives through textile art. 

“A Splendid Decennium: Victorian to Vanguard” is a retrospective exhibit in two parts, uniting two historical jewels, the Gaslamp Museum at the Davis-Horton House and the Villa Montezuma Museum. The exhibition will span both properties and can be viewed separately, but guests are encouraged to visit both for a comprehensive experience of MartyO’s work.

Admission to Gaslamp Museum portion included in all Museum and Walking Tours. Buy tickets today!

Wine & Lecture: History of North Island

The Coronado Historical Association invites you to the next lecture of our popular Wine & Lecture series as former CO of Naval Air Station North Island, David Landon, shares his knowledge about Coronado's naval history.

The Navy's first aviator, Lieutenant Ellyson, and many other military personnel were trained at North Island starting in 1911. The station was granted official recognition as the "Birthplace of Naval Aviation" by a resolution of the House Armed Services Committee on August 15, 1963. From the military's aviation origins to geographical changes to North Island over time, David will share some of the many stories about the history and development of Naval Air Station North Island.

Little Italy Mercato (Every Wednesday)

Similar to the treasured Little Italy Mercato on Saturday, the year-round Little Italy Wednesday Mercato will offer a selection of farm fresh produce, pastured eggs, poultry, meat, fish, baked goods, dips and spreads, yogurt and select local arts and crafts brought to the neighborhood by California farmers, fisherman and artisan foodmakers. The Little Italy Wednesday Mercato occupies three blocks on W. Date St. between Kettner Blvd. and State Street including the Piazza della Famiglia. Shop twice as fresh, on Wednesdays and Saturdays at the Little Italy farmers markets.
