BLOOM BASH is the high-octane opening celebration for the Art Alive weekend known for its distinctive experiences. This year, join us for a night of illuminated visual delights, scrumptious treats, and dazzling distractions.

-Stunning installations from HYBYCOZO and Taylor Dean Harrison on view for this night only

Art Alive

Springtime in San Diego means Art Alive at The San Diego Museum of Art. A blaze of color, bright blossoms, and lush foliage—a garden of earthly delights—the Museum blooms again. With 100+ floral interpretations of masterworks of art and four flower-filled days of events,  Art Alive returns for its 37th year.  Created by top local and national designers, these floral interpretations can be seen April 26 – April 29, 2018. This year Art Alive honors the opening of Nancy Lorenz: Moon Gold. Natasha Lisitsa and Daniel Schultz, the wife-and-husband team behind Waterlily Pond Studio will transform the John M. and Sally B. Thornton Rotunda into a botanical masterpiece.

Mission Federal ArtWalk

One of the largest fine art festival in Southern California and San Diego’s premier arts and cultural event, Mission Federal ArtWalk is returning for its 34th year to connect the community and visitors alike to fine artists, interactive art pieces, entertainment and a peek into the city’s arts scene.

On April 28 – April 29, 2018, Mission Federal ArtWalk will transform 17 blocks of Downtown San Diego’s nationally recognized Little Italy neighborhood creating an arts and culture event visitors travel thousands of miles to experience and purchase art from over 350 local, national and international emerging and established artists at the free two-day festival.

The USS Midway Museum is the heart and soul of Memorial Day celebration in San Diego. The lineup of activities range from a Wreath Memorial ceremony, benefit concert, family activities, blood drive, interactive exhibits and more. Each element of Midway’s Legacy Week commemoration is designed to honor and remember our heroes and celebrate our military heritage. Events also offer the community an affordable and inspiring way to kick off summer in San Diego on one of the most iconic museums in the world.


Exploring Oceans: STEM Career Night

Meet scientists and professionals from Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego, and Birch Aquarium who are involved in a diverse array of careers. Gain valuable resources while learning more about ocean-related STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) professions. Open to students in grades 6-12. Ages 15 and under must be accompanied by a paid adult. 

This year we have a diverse group of scientists who are excited to share their passion and their research! Pre-registration is highly recommended for this popular event.
