Macy's Museum Month

Arts, entertainment and culture collide for Macy’s Museum Month in San Diego. This February the San Diego Museum Council and Macy’s have teamed up again for Museum Month, giving patrons a chance to discover what’s new at more than 40 area museums with savings only seen once a year.

Participants can pick up a Museum Month Pass at any area Macy’s store to enjoy half-off admission to all of the participating museums through the entire month of February.

ART OF THE AMERICAS

More than 125 objects used by people from the ancient cultures of Mexico, Central and South America. Objects range from those made for ritual and ceremonial use to objects for domestic use.

A rare collection of Maya textile fragments and ancient bead strands will also be presented. One of the few exhibitions of ancient art, ART OF THE AMERICAS is part of Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA.

In recognition of International Holocaust Remembrance Day (January 27) and in conjunction with SDHC’s exhibition on the history & heritage of San Diego’s Jewish community, join us for a powerful call to action through the arts, using the lessons of the Holocaust, to discuss the dangers of hatred and bigotry. Led by Cheryl Rattner Price, Co-Founder and Executive Director of San Diego-based The Butterfly Project, timely and family-oriented event will include:

Film screening of: “NOT the Last Butterfly” (film is suitable for 5th grade & older)
Painting ceramic butterflies
Painted butterfly installation and scavenger hunt
Special presentation: “Our Families: Stories of Survival” from The Butterfly Project Education Team
