Join the Center for World Music and The Old Globe for free festivities, featuring San Diego-based Choro Sotaque playing vintage Brazilian jazz.
This is the third and final concert of our Outdoor Summer World Music Series, presenting music from world destinations in relaxed outdoor settings. The series ends on Saturday, June 17 with this celebration of World Music Day which officially falls on June 21.
4:30 to 5:30 PM, Brazilian Workshop
Get hands-on with Brazilian music through rhythm, song, dance, and drums with workshop leader Stefanie Schmitz and Marisa Serrano. Instruments provided by the Center for World Music. No experience necessary, and all ages are welcome!
5:30 to 6:45 PM, Choro Sotaque Concert
Let your heart stir with the intricate melodies and vibrant beats of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in a lively instrumental performance. Choro Sotaque members are Stefanie Schmitz, clarinet/saxophone, Joe Amato, 7-string guitar, Gabriel Arce, cavaquinho/bandolim, and Halysson da Silva, percussion.
The workshop and concert will both be held at the beautiful Copley Plaza, directly in front of The Old Globe in Balboa Park. Lady Carolyn's Pub will be featuring a full bar and selection of tasty treats for purchase.
