Please join us on Saturday, May 12th at 6PM for an elegant evening and help support our programs to enrich the lives of children and their families. Mission Bay Hilton at 1775 East Mission Bay...
A place where animals teach and people learn, a special "time-out" in the world of nature.
Have you fed a zebra, touched a watusi or camel? Come visit and you will get the chance to feed a zebra and every other animal that calls the Retreat home. The Children’s Nature Retreat welcomes visitors of all ages, allowing everyone to enjoy and explore the beautiful and tranquil surroundings at their leisure. This ranch-style animal sanctuary is located on 20 acres, just 45 minutes from downtown San Diego. We are home to more than 120 domesticated livestock and exotic animals from around the world. The retreat is specifically designed to help guests develop a sense of wonder for nature and its inhabitants. Interactive animal encounters are available for everyone to learn and foster an appreciation for animals, nature, and the ecosystem.
Here at the Children’s Nature Retreat we want to provide children and their families access to animals, nature and the environment. In our increasingly digital dependent and urbanized world our children are losing touch with nature. With this in mind, we believe the Children’s Nature Retreat offers guests a deep sense of connection to the earth.
At the heart of the Retreat are our animals. With more than 120 domesticated livestock and exotic animals from around the world, you will discover 17 species and 45 different breeds. Many of our animals have been acquired from owners who can no longer keep or care for them, while some have been rescued from extremely harsh living conditions. These magnificent creatures will now live out the rest of their lives at the Retreat to be very well taken care of and loved.
We are equally as passionate about bringing children and animals together. We worked to create a space where we can experience and learn the ways of animals and how they interact with different species. Children and all guests have an opportunity to feed, touch and visit with our animals up-close as they roam in their habitat.
For more information or to make an appointment contact us at: (619)320-4942 or firstname.lastname@example.org! Please call us prior to arrival as we limit the retreat to a daily capacity of 100 guests to ensure the best possible experience during your visit.
