Children's Nature Retreat

A sanctuary where animals teach and people learn

Have you fed a zebra, touched a watusi or camel?

Come visit and you will get the chance to feed a zebra and every other animal that calls the Retreat home.

The Children’s Nature Retreat welcomes visitors of all ages, allowing everyone to enjoy and explore the beautiful and tranquil surroundings at their leisure. This ranch-style animal sanctuary is located on 20 acres, just 45 minutes from downtown San Diego. We are home to more than 135 domesticated livestock and exotic animals from around the world. The retreat is specifically designed to help guests develop a sense of wonder for nature and its inhabitants. Interactive animal encounters are available for everyone to learn and foster an appreciation for animals, nature, and the ecosystem.
